Ashley’s answer: Drinking water after any workout (and regularly throughout the day) helps maintain healthy digestive and immune systems. Plus, it takes care of all our organs, including skin and muscles. Beyond drinking water after a workout, you can choose to get additional nutrients in liquid or solid form. For example, you’ll want to get in potassium and a small amount of sodium, protein and carbohydrates: these can come from food combos like corn tacos with beans, guacamole and salsa. Or, you could make a smoothie and get these nutrients in the liquid form, via coconut water, celery, hemp protein powder, greens, and some avocado. The point is, post-workout, you don’t need to drink anything other than water, but you do need to replace these depleted nutrients. Chewing over a food quandary?
